Yes. I’m still around…and alive although bloated with holiday foods. Anyway, my break has been pretty nice so far. Busy, yes, but also it’s been nice seeing my family and friends (yes, I did say friends). Though all the hospitality and many gifts (clothes, luggage, various goodies), the highlight has been seeing both Karyn (however brief our time was) and Amy (and her hubby Brian). Both were visiting from thousands of miles away and took at least a few minutes to visit with poor little ol’ me still living in Mid-Michigan. Hey…maybe this summer we can get together again. That would be WONDERFUL.

So…off I go…to relax a bit more before returning to the holiday celebrations. Christmas days #4 is tomorrow. More food, more family, more presents. Woo-hoo!

I’m a nerd.

In something less than two hours I will be sitting in the movie theater eagerly anticipating the start of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Not only that…it’s a work related outing in honor of the holidays.

Ah yes…my home and I both managed to survive the first round of family Christmas festivities. Saturday consisted of touring the homes of four members of my family (including myself), eating their food, and drinking their beverages. It was a very nice, though hectic, time. Everybody seemed to really appreciate all of the trouble that we all went to in order to make everything perfect. Never before have I had 25 people in my 1400sq ft bungalow. Nor do I expect that such a substantial number will visit again for another year or two.

Round 2 of Christmas will commence this Saturday (the 21st) and will wrap up on the 28th with the arrival of my sister from England. Woo-hoo!

It’s supposed to warm up a little today…this of course is a good thing because the weather has been less than lovely the last bit. I could handle one or two over-30 degree days. With that said, I would also like to have a little snow this weekend. I know I can’t have it both ways, but a girl can dream can’t she? This weekend is actually a family outing where about 20 people will tour the homes of four families (including my own house). It should be rather filling (food-wise) and fun. Just gotta get the house cleaned :)

OK. This quiz is on crack. All of ya’ll out there who know me outside of the net know that this is completely inaccurate.

You are 20% geek
OK, so maybe you ain’t a geek. You do, at least, show a bit of interest in the world around you. Either that, or you have enough of a sense of humor to pick some of the sillier answers on the test. Regardless, you’re probably a pretty nifty, well-rounded person who gets along fine with people and can chat with just about anyone without fear of looking stupid or foolish or overly concerned with minutiae. God, I hate you.

Well, my weekend o’ birthday fun went off without a hitch. I’m official 26 years old now. While I look much younger than that (and have yet to experience the joy of gray hair) I feel older. I don’t know why…maybe I’ve grown up and gotten all responsible and stuff. Errr…maybe not. Whatever.

So for the Birthday, Jeremy and I went to Motor City Casino in Detroit. He’d been to Green Town and we’d both been to MGM so it was time to test the waters at the third gambling facility in Detroit. Well, he planned on spending $60 and came away with $17 in his pocket still. I had $40 in quarters to gamble away on slots. Well, after only spending about $4 of it, I had enough on the machine to not have to dip back into my cup. After about twenty minutes, I’d won $100 and called it quits. Go figure…me winning on the slots on my birthday. It somehow just seems right.

So, without thought I went to Best Buy and bought music. It was free money so I may as well spend it! I think I came away with seven or eight CD’s. Yeah! I guess you could call me lucky…

Despite the fact that my birthday is yet to arrive, I’ve gotten the majority of my gifts. Most, in fact, have revolved around making my computing experience the best it can possibly be. I was not shocked, but aboslutely happy to get a new optical Microsoft mouse (the REALLY nice one) from my parents. They also gave me these bobble blown glass thingies that you put in your plants to water them automatically. Is that some sort of hint? Probably so…anyway, they are uniquely beautiful.

From the man, well…something else. I’m going to hold on to the secret right now, but let’s just say I’m ABSOLUTELY ECSTATIC. Enough said :)

Thanksgiving was pretty nice. Sure the time was busy, but there was also the high quality food that I got to injest the ENTIRE weekend. Got to see both sets of parents on Thursday and then made the trek to Columbus, Ohio. Same old routine as I’ve been partaking in since JT and I began dating in 1997 (my first family Thanksgiving was actually in 1998).

Also, today I got a brand new play toy. I got a…drumroll please…web cam! Come stalk me here:

Me, me, me, me.
