Oh! I saw an absolutely divine film. Now, I feel like an absolute idiot for not watching it earlier. Seriously, if you haven’t seen 1997’s Life if Beautiful go see it NOW. Go rent the video or DVD. Hell, go BUY the movie. You won’t be disappointed. I haven’t cried that hard in a very long time…not even at A Beautiful Mind.

What’s transpired today has been rather strange. I went to log into Epinions this morning and EVERYTHING was gone. It was only after a bit of investigation that I realized that my password was changed, my web of trust was deleted, my reviews were deleted, my profile was deleted, and everybody on my trust list had been added to my block list. Somebody hacked in and thought they destroyed my account to the point that I wouldn’t be able to return. With the help of Epinions I’ve been able to reinstate my account. They will be using backups to repost my opinions. I’ve got a back up of my profile, so that’s no big deal either.

The thing that really bothers me about this is why in the hell would somebody I don’t know AT ALL beyond the bounds of a stupid (yet time-burning) website care enough to take the time to make a mess? It baffles my mind. The dorkus also hacked into an e-mail account this morning twice, using two different passwords. The reason I know is because because I created the account with personal security information I can request my password and thus get access to the “new” password. In this case, stupid ones like woodbus565 and staticdesk657. Oh, and then there’s that whole issue of IP addresses like the one he left me: 16.west-allis-02rh16rt.wi.dial-access.att.net. I wonder who that might be?

So I flip on the television yesterday morning–Saturday morning–looking for something to watch. It was about 8am, so I expected something. Cartoons would have done me fine. Instead, I was handed a VERY rude awakening thanks to VH1. Yeah, you heard me. VH1.

No, it wasn’t Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, or even the Backstreet Boys. Those would have been much more palatable…by a long shot. Apparently, VH1 allowed the interns to create a show. What they came up with was something dubbed ‘Pup Stars.’ Let me say it was the most absurd idea ever. The premise of the show was simply to show a video on a large projection television in the background. In this case, it was Madonna’s Music. In the foreground, all hell broke loose thanks to about six rowdy puppies….oh and one very horny little puppy. They rolled around and played innocently except for that one pup. He (very obviously) had a great deal of pent up hormonal energy. He was gettin’ busy with all the other puppies RIGHT AGAINST THE CAMERA.

Like I said, I was very rudely awaken by this imagery. I suppose the show was created with children in mind, but come on! Kids aren’t idiots! Seriously, if you ever are up at that time of the morning check it out. You too may get to experience romping, horny puppies.

My favorite local radio station, WRIF 101.1, conducted a few very intersting interviews today. Sure, Adam West and Bruce Campbell were interesting, but what really makes me laugh my butt off is the ‘Tongue Dog.’ See, little Brandy would be a normal Boxer if it weren’t for her 17″ tongue. The hosts of the morning show (Drew & Mike) had no idea that she was a local celebrity. The owners were kind enough to actually bring the dog into the studio.

Sorry about my really pitiful sense of humor, but I’m sitting here getting a huge kick out of the dog. Ha!

Michigan in the mushy part of winter really blows. What more needs to be said?

Also (on a lighter, more amusing note), I found a cool site that tells you what songs in Britain and the US were number one the year you were born. It’s pretty funny, especially considering how utterly crappy some of the tracks are. Without further ado, here are my #1 tracks. On December 8, 1976 the US #1 single was Tonight’s The Night by Rod Stewart. Where it really gets strange is the UK #1 single: Under The Moon Of Love by Showaddywaddy. What the hell is that? Anyhow, to see what your #1 tracks are, click here.

It’s a dreary day in Michigan. The skies have been cloudy all afternoon, and the rain has just begun to fall. Oh how I yearn for July.

With that said, not much is really going on. I haven’t made any new purchases nor have I read any interesting bumper stickers. I still laugh at that whole ‘What Would Xena Do?’ thing. I did see a few really funny cartoons. Check them out if you’d like, although I will warn you if you don’t already know…my sense of humor is very, very strange. ‘Worst Job’ cartoon - Mr. Whiskers - Horror Movie

Well, I didn’t expect this past weekend to be busy. It was…really, really busy. I got a call on Friday informing me that my cousin was pregnant and getting married on Sunday and moving to Virginia on Monday. Let’s just say it came as a surprise to everybody, including my Aunt and Uncle. I really do hope that everything goes well in their lives, although I don’t think she understands the entire meaning of marriage. In fact, she’s 18 and has never lived away from home. It’s going to definitely be a shock for her. Like I said, I wish them the best…and I’m still speechless about the entire situation.

Besides that, the weekend was okay. Nothing else happened to speak of, although I did have the pleasure of seeing Shrek for the first time. It really was a funny movie (keep in mind, that opinion is coming from a girl who generally hates comedies and hates cartoon films even more).

It happens once in a while. I’m completely entertained by a bumper sticker.

I saw an interesting one yesterday. Those stupid, pushy WWJD stickers are over sold and cliche. But a ‘What Would Xena Do?’ sticker is much funnier and much more appropriate if you ask me.

I just found the coolest site. Lo and behold I’m having problems ftp’ing to my site. My solution? Post it here!

Yesterdayland is the best retro site I’ve ever seen in my years on the ‘net. It’s got lots of topics ranging from toys, games, television, music, movies, fashion, etc… Each is divided into decades. Just click and there’s a huge list of items. Click on any one of ‘em and you’ve usually got a picture and a nice description. The one thing bad I can say is that they are lacking a picture or even reference to my lunchbox from childhood. Anyone else out there have a Herself the Elf yellow plastic model????

Ah yes. The great Hallmark holiday of love. Valentine’s Day. The man and I already exchanged gifts. I got him M&M’s (plain AND crispy), pez, and some nifty M&M boxers. If you knew the guy you’d understand. He in turn gave me a lovely gift basket full of my favorite scent. BCBGirls Sexy. Yummmm… It’s lovely.

Besides that, the week is going fine. Nothing special to speak of. I did have to inventory all the office computers. It wasn’t a difficult job. Just a time-consuming and at times dusty one. I suppose you can’t get away from getting dirty when you’re rolling around on the floor.

I still haven’t gotten my new books from Barnes & Noble. They were supposed to arrive yesterday, but alas, no UPS man for me :) I suspect that they’ll be on the front stoop today when I get home.

I’ve not been doing too much. The man isn’t feeling so well, so he’s been a bit whiny lately. I’m fine with that…it just puts him indebted to me for next time I contract the stomach flu.

Anyhow, I’ve been doing some random searching and came upon the final script for Natural Born Killers. I’ll post it for no particular reason in case somebody out there is interested in the film. I’m not a huge fan, but I enjoy the media commentary as much as the next nerd.

Yesterday was very busy at work…I think I sat at my desk for a total of 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. That’s very different than the way my day usually goes as the resident computer geek-girl.

I ordered a few new things. I chose Barnes & Noble this time because they were overall $15 or so cheaper than Amazon. Although, I am still a very loyal supporter of Amazon. I’m just feeling cheaper than usual these days. I ordered the man two exceptionally boring Red Hat Linux books (as you can tell, I harbor no interest). I ordered myself two upbeat books (one about apocalypses, the other about Ted Bundy). Finally, I ordered two CD’s for myself…both by a really cool band called Morcheeba. Their ‘Fragments of Freedom’ is currently planted in my CD player. I think I’ve listened to it 20 times in the last week. Basically, I love it. These other two are supposed to be much better examples…and I need something else to put in my car stereo.

So, I’m basically just waiting for a nice new shipment.

So yeah, I got a few e-mail from my sister yesterday. She’s having a grand time in jolly old England. The past few days she’s been going to concerts (her favorite pasttime) and had all access passes to the Remy Zero / Travis show…for two nights. She insists that the guys are all pretty nice and that they are also intelligent. I’ll take her word on that. She actually went to the bar with her best friend over there and a guy from each group (whom provided the lager). Quite a change for a little Michigan girl.

We got into a conversation about celebrity and she had this very funny bit of information to share about Aussie singer/actress Natalie Imbruglia whom she met via her friend that used to date her:

” She opens her eyes REAL WIDE and giggles when you attempt conversation with her… But hey, she’s hot.”

I think that just about says it all…

Picture this….

You walk into a public bathroom and the first thing you smell is Aqua Net hairspray. You glance to your left, to your right! Voila! It’s a woman working feverishly to perfect her hair circa 1989. It’s been a decade since I’ve seen this occurrence or heard the scrape of a pick through perm-deadened hair. But today of all days I got the pleasure experiencing this hairdo. The fabled “claw” or whatever better term you may have for it.

Needless to say, the restroom was filled with Aqua Noxious scent. As I cowered in my stall I listened intently to the not-in-the-least-bit intelligent conversation going on just beyond the metal doors. God how I long for those days of yore. Those days filled with lip gloss and Salon Selectives (my brand of choice a decade ago).

I’m having some strange problems. First and foremost, it seems that I cannot access my home page from work. When I go home, it works perfectly. Go figure…I suspect it has to do with issues that my network was having yesterday. Hopefully I’ll figure out what’s going on in the very near future.

Anyway, I finished watching Rose Red. It was very scary. I screamed once (I actually thought it hadn’t escaped my lips until I asked my husband). Pretty darned cool ghost story. It’s too bad that it was a made-for-TV miniseries. Why? Well, the special effects sucked (like usual). But, I also understand that no other medium can support such a huge, winding story. Hence the fact that Stephen King keeps on making TV miniseries’. Hey…and if he keep on making them I’ll be a happy girl :)

Wow. That last month blew by…

Anyway, I didn’t work yesterday. Why? Well the enter South-East Portion of Michigan got whacked by an ice storm. At my home things didn’t look to bad, but the second I turned on the television I found out that ice coated absolutely everything in Ann Arbor. I just didn’t feel too safe driving around and not knowing *exactly* what the conditions are. Anyway…I’m at work today and everything seems okay. Sure, there’s a coating of ice on everything from sidewalks to bushes, but nothing seems too bad. Although, people in my office are still without power. Now, that sucks.
