Well, Rose Red has creeped me out. I had to go to bed after the first hour of watching last night…otherwise I fear that I would have encountered some ghosts in my own dreams. Anyway, so far so good…one more night to go to reach the end of the mini series. I’ve recorded each episode for my mom…she goes to bed well before it airs at 9pm on ABC.

The weather ’round these parts has been really strange. I’ve never in my 25 years of life seen a winter that so profoundly lacks snow. There was a bit before the temperatures warmed up to an obscene 55 degrees. Now, it’s a little cooler, but I don’t expect to see snow in the near future. I just wish that winter would still be winter and mean blustery days of snow and wind. Instead, Michigan is stuck with luke warm days full of partly cloudy skies. It’s felt quite a bit like March/April.

It’s been what seems like ages since I had a relaxing weekend at home. I did almost nothing (besides occasionally cleaning up the house, kitchen, and cats). Besides a few minor trips to Meijers and Home Depot, this was the nicest weekend I’ve had for what seems like a year (and could be that long in reality).

Anyway, last night was the premier of the first installment of Stephen King’s Rose Red Mini-Series. So far so good. It’s pretty spooky, and since I’m a huge King fan and horror fan, this haunted house/psychic plot is perfect entertainment. Even if the plot wanders around (like most of King’s longer efforts) I love the feel. Anyway, watch tonight even if you missed it last night :)

Doin’ the happy dance. It’s Friday! No work, no stress, NOTHING for the entire weekend. Not that my life is riddled with hardships or anything. Tee-hee!

The man’s grandpa is turning 90 tomorrow. He’s looking pretty healthy and seems very well for somebody that old. I wish my grandparents were that healthy (or even alive in the case of one set). Mine are even a lot younger.

I just got notification from the mother site (Epinions) that I retained my status as both Top Reviewer and Editor in music. Also, I’ve been hanging out over at Hotrate where I’ve just been promoted to a Level 2 Editor. Woo-hoo! A girl’s gotta do something to pass the time :)

So I went to the doctor (Oncologist) yesterday. I’ve been cancer-free for almost six years now. All is going well, and the doctor has allowed me to stop having annual CT scans. Although, I still am required to see her every January or so. I’m very happy about stopping the scans. It’s not that they are bad in the least. What really bugs me is the nasty contrast I have to drink. Imagine to yourself for one moment. You aren’t allowed to eat for the morning prior to the scan. They then hand you a large dixie cup full of a luke warm, thick, chalky substance. You drink it and gag on it’s faintly vanilla taste. You triumphantly finish and then are handed two more in quick succession.

Have a good mental picture? Well, then think about the constipation that follows. You’ve now entered my world. As I already said, I’m happy to be done with those…

I’ve found a fun new thing that MTV is doing. If Big Brother and Survivor want to up their ratings, I suggest they take a cue from Fantasy Challenge. Why is this so cool? Well, you basically take bets on a show that airs 10pm on every Monday. It stars various people from all the past Real Worlds & Road Rules. Based on what happens in any given episode and who you choose to be on your team, points are scored. The winners following this season will be awarded various prizes. The most impressive of which is the Saturn Car.

Like I said, reality TV needs to take a long look at this tactic. Talk about a built-in audience watching every week. Just bribe ‘em with a car and you will win in network ratings :)

Goodbye to the weekend…not that I got much rest at all.

You know how it goes. We rented two movies on Friday night…both on DVD. I stayed up to watch American Pie 2, but fell asleep during Evolution. Both were good for funny movies. Although, I’m never a huge fan of laughing. I take everything so seriously :P

I also went to the bar on Saturday night. That’s like a once every few months occurence for me. I then proceeded to drink five seabreezes and wanted to go home at like 11pm. That’s the story of my life. My poor husband just has to go with the flow otherwise I get very moody. Oh well…like I tell him…he’s the one that married me!

Also, we went to a birthday party on Sunday. My cousin’s baby turned a year old. How adorable. We got her this really soft Tigger stuffed animal. Why not Pooh? Well, I have a hate and fear of the freaky yellow bear thanks to carry-over fears from childhood. Actually I just don’t like the thing. She loved the Tigger, but was more fascinated with the box he came in. I wish I were a year old…she made out like a bandit scoring like twelve entire outfits.

Yup. I’m a tiny bit jealous of a baby :)

You know what I hate? Stupid people. You know the ones that can’t do wrong… Well, Epinions is lucky to have one of those types attacking me. What an idiot. Apparently, he doesn’t think that breaking the rules and pretending you didn’t is a bad thing. It is and dozens of people have told him so. Pain in the ass if you ask me. He’s gotten so mad that he named little ol’ me in his most recent opinion. What an honor for somebody who’s never been named in that kind of thing before. Go laugh at the stupid poo-poo head here. I don’t know who the hell told him he was king shit. Take out that king part, and the name is more accurate.

All is well as of late. But, you can call me an idiot. Why? Well, on Wednesday I ate a salad and drank a juice. Result? I got sick. I ate the exact same thing yesterday without thinking. Guess what? Sick. Gawd. I think I’m having soup today.

One last thing. My friend Kristin (whose wedding I was in October) is pregnant! Boy that’s quick :) Anyway, she and her hubby Brad are having a baby. Yeah from Krissy! I’m excited (jealous?) for you. I coudn’t be any happier. Since I’ve known her since I was six or seven years old, I know that this is a suprise, yet I also know it’s what she wants and that she will be a perfect mommy :)

One more thing! It snowed here last night. Finally…not that I actually expect the powder to stick to the ground for long. Sure it was pretty, but waking up and scraping the car this morning was not something I look forward to doing daily. My poor little fingers…

Well, I finally got a decent night worth of sleep following my marathon Real World watching on Tuesday. This cast should be pretty interesting. I personally find it very interesting how the proclaimed lesbian (Aneesa) finds it necessary to tease that Californian guy (Theo). Ha! Anyway, I’m a huuuuuggggeee Real World fan. In fact, I think I’ve seen every episode ever on television…most when they were original aired. Favorite cast? Well, I loved Miami. Flamboyant Dan paired with obnoxious Flora paired with horny Joe. It can’t get better than that :)

Since I love the show, I also have managed to pick out a few people that irked me to no end. First, there’s psycho Irene from Seattle. That chick needed a serious helping of psychiatric medication. Amaya from Hawaii was also bizarre…and on top of that she was a blonde, stereotypical sorority girl. I’ve never seen anybody weep so much about a scrawny little young guy in my life. There’s just so much that can be said when there have been ELEVEN seasons of this show to date. Wow. And people said it would never last…

Wanna test your reflexes? Don’t be impressed by the aptly titled Reflex Game. I wasn’t. You’d think that somebody with that much time on their hands would also put some effort into designing a moderately attractive page.

I got a new shipment of books in from Amazon yesterday. Since I’ve pretty much run out of decent horror to read, I’ve been branching out into the world of sci-fi and apocalyptic, futuristic fiction. So far so good (besides the strange looks I get from doubters). Anyway, I just got The Dice Man [Luke Rhinehart], The Last Ship: A Novel [William Brinkley], Birdman [Mo Hayder], The Postman [David Brin], The Man in the High Castle [Philip K. Dick]. Let’s just say the my bookshelves can no longer accomodate my large collection of books. Hopefully I’ll enjoy some of these books enough to talk a bit about them…

There’s really not much new to talk about today. Work is the same as usual, I’m just busy doing various web design things and forms. It’s at least enjoyable enough to keep me busy and off my new car sitting in the parking lot. Talk about a beauty!

I have so little money to spend thanks to that beautiful car that today I had to eat–get this–Chef Boyardee Canneloni for lunch. Not that it tastes bad or anything, but my body is much more used to eating a sandwich or soup or a salad. Hopefully, my monetary situation will improve in the not-too-distant future. Although, I could revert to my college days and eat only frozen pizza and pizza rolls. That wouldn’t be all bad…

Signing off with an uncontrollable urge for PIZZA ROLLS…

This weekend was eventful to say the least. First and foremost, I was awarded the honor of being a co-maid of honor in my friend Amy’s wedding. Since I’ve known her for roughly a decade that was a very special thing to me. It’s nice to feel loved and wanted on occasion. The wedding was small yet absolutely gorgeous. Her husband is a lovely guy. It’s too bad he’s taking her all the way to Japan…

Anyway :) The man and I bought a car. Not just any car…oh no…we bought a 2002 Impala LS in Bronzemist. It’s even got leather interior. Talk about a mega-upgrade from a 1992 Honda Accord or 1991 Ford Escort Pony. Take your pick, either seriously sucks in comparison to this wonder of modern engineering. I just turn on those heated seats and off I go in comfort and warmth.

Thursday, January 10th, 2002

Now, on to the much cooler stuff. See, tonight the man and I are doing something very special. We are going…ahem!…car shopping. I’ve been driving the same piece o’ crap for coming up on eight years. The 1991 Escort Pony really serves no purpose except filling up the driveway. Anyway, we’re getting rid of that, keeping the 1992 Honda Accord, and buying (yes buying not leasing) a brand new Chevy Impala (we hope). That’s a very exciting prospect to somebody who’s NEVER had a new or even remotely new car.

Wish us luck. Also, wish me luck with this new journal thingie. It seems good so far. I’ll let everybody know how well it works in the future. Hey, maybe I’ll even figure out some interesting tips & tricks.

Thursday, January 10th, 2002

Well, well, well. I’ve gotten off my oversized duff to try something new. What might that be, you ask? Well, it’s Blogger.

What’s that?

Blogger is a simple way in which to create, monitor, update, and maintain a journal (log) on your personal website. It’s free and relatively simple to use. Sure you need to know HTML, but besides that there are no special things that a user needs to know to get the ‘Blogger’ up and going.
